Lexington, KY – August 1, 2026 – Lexington’s own Kady Abrahamson and Lovely Boy P topped the leaderboard on Saturday night under the lights as show jumping action concluded with the $50,000 Kentucky Summer Grand Prix during the Kentucky Summer Classic, presented by Rood and Riddle. Saving the best for last, Abrahamson bested the seven-horse jump-off as the last to return with her new mount. She finished a full second ahead of Audrey Muscari and Chester Du Roset, while Canada’s Chris Pratt placed third aboard Paulien Dwerse Hagen.
“I’ve only had Lovely Boy P for three weeks actually, so this was my first grand prix with him,” smiled Abrahamson after her win. “He’s owned by Ariel Grange and Daniel Coyle, who is my trainer. He recommended that Ariel send the horse to me to ride – he’s thought maybe he would jump well for a girl, so I have him as an experiment. I’ve been showing him in the 1.30ms, the 1.40ms, just getting to know him. I wanted to see what happens jumping him bigger under the lights, and everything came together in one night!”

Jasen Shelley set a technical track that kept horses and riders focused from beginning to end for the final event of the week. It featured an oxer-vertical-vertical triple combination and a vertical-oxer double combination, and they finished the course with a delicate line headed toward the gate. Seven returned for the tiebreaker, and six were able to produce a second clear effort, making speed the name of the game.
Chris Pratt & Paulien Dwerse Hagen
Pratt was the first to finish in under 44 seconds, making sharp turns and galloping quickly over the jump-off track to stop the clock at 42.605 seconds with Paulien Dwerse Hagen. His lead did not hold for long, though, as Muscari and Chester Du Roset entered the ring next and were able to leave all the rails intact in a time of 42.503 seconds, just 1/10th of a second faster. The best was still yet to come, with Abrahamson returning at the very end with Lovely Boy P. Despite their new partnership, Abrahamson made a dash for the cash, and it paid off as they made a quick turn to the second fence and left out a stride in the last line to break the beam in 41.704 seconds and take home the victory.

“He jumped unbelievably in the first round and I was like, ‘Wow, he didn’t touch a fence. He was amazing,’” she explained. “I don’t know [Lovely Boy P] at all, so I was like, ‘I know Daniel and Ariel have taught you to go fast, but I’ve never done a jump-off with you before.’ Everything just showed up perfectly though, and he jumped amazing – I’m really happy. I’m really appreciative to Ariel and Daniel for allowing me the ride. Hopefully this is the first of many successes with him!”
The Kentucky Horse Shows are a home event for Abrahamson, who lives just 10 minutes away and loves having such amazing competitions in her backyard. “I love these shows,” she concluded. “These classes are great, the ring is huge, it’s welcoming, the jumps are awesome, and the course designing was great.”
This marked the last event in the Rolex Stadium this week as the Kentucky Horse Shows LLC prepares for the 2026 USEF Pony Finals.
