The $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby, sponsored by World Equestrian Center/Kentucky Horse Shows LLC was the feature class in the Stonelea Ring Saturday at the Kentucky Summer Classic. Sixty-nine hunters took center stage to compete for the title that were broken down into two sections, Pro and Non-Pro. In the Pro section, Jennifer Waxman rode Elm Rock LLC’s Codex 22 to the win followed by Jeff Gogul and Robert Stables LLC’s Snowbird in second, while Dominic Gibbs rode Erin Gibbs’ Perseus YC to first place in the Non-Pro section with Savannah Sugar on her own Boccaccio coming in second.

The final class on Friday in the Rolex Stadium during the Kentucky Summer Classic, the High Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumpers, saw a field of nine horse-and-rider combinations vye for the blue ribbon. As the only double-clear performance over Bobby Murphy’s 1.35-40m course, Ellie Ferrigno topped the leaderboard on Discovery-O, breaking through the timers in 42.904 seconds. Mallory Vale on Elusive and Lindsey Strafuss on Calmaro 12 finished in second and third place, respectively.

Junior Hunters closed out the Stonelea Ring Friday at the Kentucky Summer Classic with the presentation of the Grand Junior Hunter Championship presented by Visse Wedell. The top honor was presented to the horse and rider combination that accumulated the most points over two days of competition in either the 3’3” or 3’6” sections of the Junior Hunter division. This week, it was Kat Fuqua and Cupido Z that reigned supreme.

It was a competitive contingency of athletes entered in Thursday evening’s $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic with 26 entries from eight different countries. With the only double-clear performance of the evening, Samantha Shaefer and Zarina De Vidau rode away with the $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic. The rider currently sitting on top of the Hagyard Challenge Series Leading Rider rankings, Brian Moggre, blazed through the jump-off on MTM Flutterby but brought down a rail in the final oxer to finish in second place. Liza Finsness rounded out the top three on Shiver.

The Stonelea Ring at the Kentucky Summer Classic wrapped-up Thursday with The Hamel Foundation National Horse Show 3’3” Medal. Twenty-eight equitation riders competed over a course of eight obstacles before the top 12 riders were called back to be tested on the flat. Ultimately, it was Lilly Goldstein who walked out of the ring with the blue ribbon aboard her mount, Carebear. Second place was awarded to Samantha Takacs on Cooper and Peyton Rathbun with MTM Flash Dance rounded out the top three.
