More than 40 pairs took to the Rolex Stadium under the lights Friday evening, each hoping to produce the quickest clear round to claim the top prize in the $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic Grand Prix, the fifth jewel in the series of seven. Sharn Wordley held the lead in the Hagyard Challenge Series standings with the most cumulative points entering the night’s competition, and fought to keep it that way, riding Famoso D Ive Z, owned by Sky Group, to a blazing time in the jump-off ahead of the eight other pairs that made it to the final portion of the grand prix.

The Platinum Performance/USHJA Green Hunter Incentive Championships returned to the Walnut Ring for the second phase of competition Wednesday, allowing horses and riders one further chance to ride to a top 30 overall score, thus earning a place in Thursday’s finale. Entering the day, Scott Stewart and Playbook sat 9 points behind the day one leaders, Victoria Colvin and Flint, but the steady duo managed to surpass them with another top round over Patrick Rodes’ hunter course to climb to the top of the overall leaderboard.

More than 140 qualified horses and riders took to the famed Walnut Ring at the Kentucky Horse Park Tuesday, each aiming to lead the Platinum Performance/USHJA Green Hunter Incentive Championship at the conclusion of the first round of competition. Course designer Patrick Rodes tested entries over a series of obstacles measuring in at either 3’ or 3’3”, with riders using their discretion to determine which fence height was optimal for their mount. Riding at the 3’3” height, Victoria Colvin and Flint, owned by John & Stephanie Ingram, LLC, navigated a masterful round to earn the highest score of the day and claim the lion’s share of the prize money.

The grand finale of USEF Pony Finals week, the Marshall & Sterling/USEF Pony Medal Finals took over the Alltech Ring Sunday, with more than 160 small, medium and large ponies and their hopeful young riders vying for the top prize and the lead spot in the victory gallop. Riding to the early lead was Ada Catherine Hays and the veteran pony Center Field after the first phase of competition. The pair further extended their place at the head of the pack after a seemingly effortless ride during the call-back portion to secure the championship honors.

One final pony hunter championship was awarded Saturday at the 2017 USEF Pony Finals at the Kentucky Horse Park to conclude hunter competition, with Augusta Iwasaki and News Flash riding away with the win in the Medium Regular Pony Hunters. During the USEF Pony Jumper Championship in the Alltech Arena down the hill, Tabitha Okitsu and her own Spoot De La Jourlais ultimately clinched victory as the only pair to ride clean over the three-phase competition ahead of 30 other competitors.
