The first day of competition at the Kentucky Spring Horse Show kicked off on Wednesday, with competition in the Rolex Stadium highlighted by the $36,000 Welcome Speed 1.45m CSI3*. At the end of a class filled with top FEI competitors from around the world, it was Andrew Ramsay and California 62, owned by the California Group who would walk away with the win.

Wednesday morning at the Kentucky Spring Horse Show opened the first day of hunter/jumper competition for two weeks of the Kentucky Spring Horse Show CSI3* series at the Kentucky Horse Park. Hunter competition was highlighted in the Stonelea Ring with the Green Hunter Incentive Stake with the option to compete at the 3’6” or 3’9” height as riders look to gain points towards the year-end championships in August. Scott Stewart rode to the top of the leaderboard with a score of 89 aboard Stephanie Danhakl’s Castellan to capture the win.

Kentucky Spring Horse Show Kicks Off Tuesday With Successful FEI Jog PDF Print E-mail

The Kentucky Horse Park welcomed horses and athletes for the first week of the Kentucky Spring Horse Show CSI3* series, spanning from May 7-19. Tuesday’s FEI jog saw 120 horses pass the inspection for soundness to contest the weekend’s international competition at the Kentucky Spring Horse Show.

Week one, the Kentucky Spring Horse Show, runs Wednesday, May 8, through Sunday, May 12, with the main event, the $134,000 Kentucky Summer Grand Prix CSI3*, scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, in the Rolex Stadium. Wednesday will welcome the first day of hunter/jumper competition and will feature the $36,000 Welcome Speed. Thursday will host the first of the seven-part Hagyard Challenge Series, the $36,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic at 5:30 p.m. in the Rolex Stadium. As a WCHR Member Event, hunters will take center stage on Sunday in the Stonelea Ring with the $10,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby and the $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby. Additional jumper highlights include the featured national classes on Sunday with the $35,000 Commonwealth Grand Prix and the $15,000 Under 25 Grand Prix.

The Kentucky Spring Classic will follow with the second week of CSI3* competition from May 14-19, highlighting the $134,000 Mary Rena Murphy Grand Prix on Saturday, May 18, at 5:30 p.m. in the Rolex Stadium.

2019 Kentucky Spring Horse Shows 

May 8 - 12  and  May 15 - 19

ATTENTION PONY HUNTER EXHIBITORS

 

Pony Hunter Classics have been added to the schedule for both weeks. 

 $500 Pony Hunter Classics

  • To be eligible, ponies must have entered, shown and completed the course in at least two classes in Regular or Green Pony Hunter section at this show. 
  • Judged using the open numerical scoring system.
  • The top twelve highest scoring ponies from the first round, if available, will return to jump a second round. 
  • Offered as separate classes-Small, Medium and Large. 
  • Riders are limited to only 2 ponies in each height section. 
  • Minimum of 6 entries per section for class to be held.
  • Fences Small 2'3" - Medium 2'6" - Large 3'

Ponies must be declared for these classes in the show office by the close of business on the day preceding each class.

 

Entry Fee: $50

 

Prize Money: 

$125  $100  $75  $60  $50  $40  $25  $25  

 

First round will be the second class of each section on Saturday.

 

Second round will be held after each section on Sunday.
