The first round tested riders over fences with two tight rollbacks and a double combination where the top 12 horse-and-rider combinations returned to the second round for a flat phase. Buckley and the 9-year-old Holsteiner gelding proved flawless after two phases to capture the victory while James Faloni and Acido 7 were awarded the second place ribbon and Alivia Kohus claimed third with Cristallo’s Carlchen P.

Thursday’s are for the Boys: Chris Ewanouski Tops the $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic PDF Print E-mail

The $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic proved to be a challenge for the 41 horse and rider combinations that were entered on first Thursday of the Kentucky Summer Horse Show Series. Only three riders, all men, were able to make it over the long course, designed by Kentucky’s favorite course designer: Bobby Murphy. In the end, Chris Ewanouski and Castle Point Farm’s Binja raced across the timers to take home the top honors with a time of 38.906 seconds. Alex Granato and Carlchen W came in second with a time of 39.456 seconds, while Australia’s Scott Creech and Chicco W rounded out the top three spots with a time of 41.741 seconds.

Kelley Farmer and Because Best Competition to Capture Professional Hunter Grand Championship at Kentucky Summer Horse PDF Print E-mail

Kelley Farmer and Aizlynn Radwanski’s Because started off the Kentucky Summer Horse Show in the same winning fashion in which they left the Kentucky Spring series by riding to the top to claim the Professional Hunter Grand Champion award, generously presented by Visse Wedell.

Farmer and the 11-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding Because bested the High Performance Hunter division to claim the championship tricolor as well. The pair was unbeatable Thursday, winning both the High Performance Working Hunter and the High Performance Handy Hunter over fences. Wednesday Farmer rode the gelding to victory in the High Performance Working Hunter over fences and under saddle. They claimed the second place ribbon in both the High Performance Conformation Hunter over fences and under saddle as well as in the High Performance Working Hunter over fences.

Aaron Vale was not going to waste a moment making sure everyone knew he was the man to beat during the opening day of the Kentucky Summer Horse Show. Vale not only won the 1.40m Open Jumpers on the 9-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding, Elusive, but also bested the the field of the remaining 16 horse-and-athlete combinations to claim second place with Acolina R. Hayley Waters rounded out the top three spots with a speedy finish on Bijou Du Pont Rihen.

Katherine Newman Captures Green Hunter Incentive Stake Win With Dandelion PDF Print E-mail

The first day of the Kentucky Summer Horse Show welcomed hunter horses to the Stonelea Ring at the Kentucky Horse Park to kick off competition. The Green Hunter division combined competitors from the 3’6” and 3’9” heights where Katherine Newman and Dandelion rose to the the top with a victory in the Green Hunter Incentive Stake.

Newman and the 12-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare, owned by Allwyn Court and The Dandelion Group, bested the other entries with a score of 85 to claim the win just ahead of Geoffrey Hesslink and High Society with a score of 84.5 in second and Christopher Payne and Ovo with a score of 84 in third.
